It's Friday Night Sew in! And I'm sooooo in!
http://www.handmadebyheidi.blogspot.com/
I got another bag done today and tonight! So excited! This is for my son. His has cameras, bikes, and film! Found all these as FQ's on Ebay.
I realized I'm going to have to Frankenstein that back of the quilt. *sigh* I am not buying more fabric for it. I saw on a blog how one person made a panel of scraps and then used what muslin they had. I guess I'll have to do that.
Tea anyone?

WIPs in the way.
WE INTERRUPT THIS REGULARLY SCHEDULED QUILT TO ....FINISH SOME WIPS!
Our Christmas stockings are really worthless. The openings are too small to get anything in. So - instead of making more stockings, I'm doing tote bags that are personalized for each person.
Mimi's, Ellen's and the dog's so far.
Mimi's bag has exotic birds for her Hans Macaw named Scooter, Sudoku puzzles and music. (she's a flute player)

Ellen is our little hippy girl, likes red wine and no frillies for this girl. She plays hockey!
The dog's (Sam, Lucy & Melvin) Need lots of treats too! |
Now I need some tea and a biscuit!

The top is tops!
The D9P marches on! I'm so happy with how it's coming together! After putting the purple boarder it really made the colors pop.
I got such a good deal at Joanne's. They are having a sale and all quilt fabric is 40% off! Fat quarters are $1.29. And they have coupons in your email.
I may need to work on a WIP for a day or two before building my sandwich.
I promised myself to replace our Christmas stockings. I'm doing mini-tote bags for each person.
So off and running to make dinner....
Nitey nite!

Am I My Brother's Keeper?
Ah, My little sewing machine...A very basic Brother XL. It is a little clunky when it sewed, tried to pull fabric a bit to the right but overall good basic machine.
Yesterday my mother-in-law told me that I should pick up one of her machines to work on. (She is truly a talented seamstress)
Enter in.....The Bernina Artista!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy Krautdogs Batman!!! This thing does everything but bring in your mail! It's computerized, does embroidery, sews as smooth as bud-dah and is soooo quiet when it sews!!!
So I played with my new toy last night and fell in love. Today I'll do some piecing and I just can't wait!
HELLLLLLLO BEAUTIFUL!

D9P QAL
I'm really excited about the coming year. I have always been an avid crocheter but lately my hands have been just touchy enough to keep me from doing it as much as I want to. Just as I was about to get all Miss Cranky Pants over it...
In steps my cousin, Cynthia, to the rescue!
She's into quilting and I haven't even looked at sewing in a hundred years. She invites me to a QAL. They are doing Disappearing 9 Patch. Yahooo! I can sew with the machine and my hands won't hurt.
Now the big decisions...who is this quilt for? What color to do it? Prints or solids? After a short amount of pondering I decide to start a throw size quilt for my son's fiance. I asked about some color choices she might like and now it's off to the fabric store! YAY!!
Here's what I've come up with so far. Unfortunately the light fabric didn't photograph out well. It's actually a light lilac with a tiny purple print.
I'm going to do a no touching seams lay out. It's like controlled chaos. I like it!
(sorry I didn't iron this before pic)
Alrighty! One down....23 more to go!
